Cherry Street Lofts / Milwaukee, WI

Continuum Architects + Planners worked with the Housing Authority of the City of Milwaukee on the planning and design for a residential housing tower with 85 market-rate housing units. The proposed location for the project is north of Milwaukee’s central business district to meet the needs of young professionals. The 13-story concrete-frame building is comprised of four stories of parking and nine stories of residential units. The parking level façade creatively interplays decorative panels with various colors. The roof of the parking podium is a garden terrace with playground, making a valuable amenity that also mitigates the impact of the tower’s height. All units are one bedrooms or studios with modern amenities and panoramic views. The glass walls of the living room and bedroom are activated by outdoor living space accessible from both rooms.

The corner entrance leads to a welcoming double height lobby and public café. A grand open staircase connects this lobby to the spa and the fitness room and a technology lounge in the upper levels. A party room and a kitchenette overlook the rooftop terrace with deck furniture,  a highly desirable outdoor living room feature in luxury apartment housing.
