The former Kramer International Foundry site was reinvented as a lifestyle center that served as a catalyst for the Walker’s Point neighborhood redevelopment. The first phase concentrated on rehabilitating the foundry’s circa-1900 building into a restaurant and separate coffee shop on the first floor with office space on the upper floor. The retail spaces were designed to include outdoor seating that helps activate the street by making it more pedestrian friendly.
The next two phases entailed construction of two new structures. Castings Point is a three-story office building on a triangular site and serves as a neighborhood gateway when crossing the river. The second new structure is the four-story Kramer North Tower Lofts, designed as apartments with commercial space on the ground floor. The project houses a mixture of 55 one- and two-bedroom apartments. The first floor units are set above street elevation and are designed as townhomes.
