Freshwater Way / Milwaukee, WI

This former 7,000-square-foot tannery building was cleaned-up and repurposed for use by three different retail and office tenants. The first tenant to move in was Purple Door Ice Cream, a growing business that needed more space for the production and sale of their hand-crafted ice cream. The space includes a clean room for production, plus a serving counter and indoor and outdoor seating. Sustainable features include the use of finishes containing recycled content, a roof water capture system integrated with a stormwater bioswale, and renewable energy through WE Energies’ Energy for Tomorrow service.

An additional 1,430-square-foot space was occupied by the Center for Resilient Cities, a nonprofit organization that works with neighbors to build communities that are good for people and good for the environment.

The last tenant to fill up the building was Float Milwaukee. Float provides flotation therapy through isolation tanks filled with salt water that allow for deep relaxation. Their 2,310-square-foot space consists of three therapy rooms each containing a water tank and shower. They also have a reception area, a relaxation lounge, restrooms, and a grooming area.
