New Finishes Brighten Space
Continuum, a leader in pro-bono work, is always looking for ways to give back to the community through architecture and improvement. As a celebration of the firm’s 20th anniversary, they teamed with CG Schmidt, who is celebrating their 100th anniversary, to donate discounted services to the Next Door Foundation, a loyal client who focuses on community outreach and education. The Next Door Foundation, celebrating its own 50th anniversary, was looking to update its aging school facilities. New floors, lighting, and paint will be updated throughout and includes a themed redesign of the children’s library, interior play spaces, a kid’s kitchen, parent lounge, and a redesign of the current lobby space and reception desk. These redesigns, along with additional borrowed lites, will serve to make the space lighter and more playful, to align with the foundation’s goals.
The Next Door Foundation is committed to improving literacy and school readiness for children under the age of 5 via early education services and having a bright, interactive environment is crucial to providing this. In addition, exterior renovations will be made to match what Continuum recently designed for their Capitol Drive location. CG Schmidt is donating construction management services and working with local contractor, JCP Construction. This partnership aims to engage the family members of kids who attend the school, and the nearby community by training minority workers without construction experience.Get in touch
