Historic Patterson Place / Milwaukee, WI

The upcoming transformation of the historic Carleton Elementary School in Old North Milwaukee will be revitalized into a housing development comprising 30 one- and two-bedroom apartments integrated within the original school structure and 18 three-bedroom townhomes adjacent to it. Green space, gardens, playgrounds, bike parking and a community room located in the former school’s gymnasium will serve as a hub for resident activities and support services for the entire neighborhood.

Named in honor of Jack Patterson, Milwaukee’s pioneering African American public transit driver and one of the first people to purchase a new lot and home in the neighborhood, the $13 million adaptive reuse development will be known as Historic Patterson Place. This project is not just a housing development; it is a celebration of history, community, and progress.
