Community Within the Corridor Breaks Ground!

The Community Within The Corridor is the largest privately held affordable housing development in the state of Wisconsin! And this week the development team shut down the street in this northwest side neighborhood to celebrate the groundbreaking for this monumental project.

The $66 million Community Within the Corridor project will bring 197 apartments and a range of other amenities to an underused industrial campus that historically was used by Briggs & Stratton. It is a partnership between Milwaukee-based Scott Crawford Inc. and larger Minnesota real estate firm Roers Companies.

Scott Crawford Inc. principal Que El-Amin spoke during the June 15 event organized by the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority and attended by Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers. The apartments will range from studios to four-bedroom units for families. A “Creative Corridor” will offer space to attract and retain local artists. There will be a daycare for up to 200 children aged 6 weeks to 12 years, playgrounds, a full-scale gym, and courts for basketball, futsal and volleyball.

“It really took everyone to put this together,” El-Amin said. “A $66 million project, you can imagine the capital stack of sources and putting it together, so thanks everyone for helping us.”
