Bucyrus Housing Development / South Milwaukee, WI

Originally conceptualized in 2021, the former Bucyrus-Erie campus will be redeveloped into 134 apartment units and 8,000-square-feet of commercial space in South Milwaukee. This dramatic reimagining of an underutilized industrial site will not only provide infill housing to a growing community, but act as a cultural catalyst and entertainment center for residents, working professionals, and community members.

Responding to a post-pandemic need for more housing and less commercial office space, this development will convert two existing office buildings into 1-, 2-, and 3-bedroom units. A new building containing an additional 40 units will also be built on the site. The heritage building will be transformed into a senior center. The campus will also contain a playground and ample green space. These amenities, coupled with its convenient location and access to MCT bus stops, make this one of the most exciting developments in South Milwaukee.

In 2011, Continuum completed an adaptive reuse project turning the heritage building into the Bucyrus Museum. Click here for more information on the former Bucyrus Museum.
