St. John’s on the Lake /

Milwaukee, WI

As a popular independent living location, St. John’s Communities wanted to expand their campus. In association with Perkins Eastman, Continuum Architects designed a new 21-story south tower that provides 88 additional units to the existing 10-story north tower. Future residents were offered numerous options to customize their homes, resulting in the units having 22 different layouts ranging from 1,135 to 2,460 square feet – all with incredible city and lakefront views. The Town Center on the first floor unites the campus via two generous connections, giving residents easy access to new amenities while forming an enclosed, highly-landscaped courtyard.

The Town Center includes an expanded wellness center with a full-service spa, enhanced fitness equipment, and a state-of-the-art swimming pool. It also provides a multi-purpose space, an extensive gallery with a curved glass wall, and a new public bistro. The design of the south tower links both new and existing residents together with the entire campus and surrounding community through a large glass façade—connecting residents to the urban energy outside.
